2022 Meetings

Our meetings are held on the third Monday of the month and our venue is open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

2022 Monthly Meeting Programme

17th January: Burns Night Celebration  Join us for all things Robbie Burns. We will bring the hot supper, you bring the tartan if you have any.

21st February: Bhangra Blaze – Indian Dance. An evening of authentic dancing from India with Janine Bailey.

21st March: The Snail Herder – Learn about one woman’s journey to set up a snail farm in West Buckland, and gain an insight into the life of a snail, with Lyn Paxman.

18th April: Wildlife Preservation – A talk from Stephen Powles at the Somerset Otter Group about a man’s relationship with an otter he named Hammer Scar, which spanned a 5 year period.

16th May: AGM and Resolutions – Will be discussed. Entertainment provided by the Blackdown Hills Steel Band with Marianne Gifford.

20th June: Tile Painting – Come along and create your own masterpiece on  tile with The Art Shop.ll have a demonstration and talk on Greek Zorba Dancing  by Yiannis TsenkosLook out for an email invitation in July to join this online event.

18th July: School in a Bag – Discover from Luke Simon how this charity was set up. It provides school bags filled with educational resources to poor orphaned, disadvantaged, vulnerable and disaster affected children.

August: No meeting

19th September: “Young Offender”– Hear how local author Michael Maisey turned his life around, and how he gives back to those less fortunate as a result.

17th October: Flexercise with Nicky Mumby – Whether in a chair or stood up, let’s get moving with some gentle exercise suitable for all.

21st November: 57 Cathedrals with Jill Berryman – Hear the journey of one woman as she travelled the country in her camper van, exploring 57 cathedrals as she went.

19th December: Choir in an Evening – Let’s get those lungs working this month with Catherine Mowatt and raise our voices and spirits ahead of Christmas.
