Jeanette has been a member of the Taunton Deane Divas since 2016. Having moved from Wembley Park, London, in 2015. Jeanette loves to travel, both locally and internationally, making new discoveries and enjoying the experiences that go with it all! Jeanette has a “get up and go attitude” and, has found that ‘The Divas’ have offered the opportunity to continue her pursuits and broadened her circle of friends along the way. Jeanette says The Divas’ is a wonderful WI, a great many of us are likeminded ladies with a ‘young at heart’ attitude. I think the Divas are a vibrant ‘modern day’, extremely friendly and outgoing group, who continue to hold the traditional values of the WI in high esteem, it’s a great institute to be part of”
Davina Salt – Vice President
Davina joined the Taunton Deane Divas in January 2018 as way to meet new people having moved to Somerset from Wandsworth, London the previous year. Davina is married with a young family (a 3 year old and a 2 year old) and works part time.
Any remaining time is filled with walking her dog and exploring the local countryside and occasionally a pub.
Lesley joined Taunton Deane Divas in May 2015. Since then she has made good use of her membership and has enjoyed lots of outings within our group and with Somerset Federation. In her spare time (in between looking after her Grandchildren) likes to craft and enjoys trying new craft ideas. Lesley loves to read and swim, but not at the same time, and has a large garden which she like to potter in. Lesley says “In 2015 I was due to retire from work and thought joining the WI may be a good idea and it was! To me the WI means meeting people making new friends and having fun. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my WI journey by being a member of the Taunton Deane Divas committee.”
Debbie Tyzack – Treasurer
I joined Taunton Divas in 2015 after speaking to two ladies at Taunton Flower Show on a recruitment drive. They promoted activities, outings and events, it appeared that all events seemed to feature “wine.” I thought I could do that and so I went along and was impressed how friendly and vibrant the group was. I joined the committee in May 2016 and enjoyed being a part of organising events etc. I then took over the Treasurer role jointly in 2017, which is certainly a challenge! I worked for NHS for 22 years before retiring in 2017 employed both at Musgrove Park and latterly with Sexual Services in Taunton. One of our speakers, a colleague gave us an insight into the “menopause” which was very informative and humorous too. I enjoy cooking so long as a glass of wine accompanies it. I also participate in regular Pilates class and will be joining a Somatics class in 2019.
‘I joined Divas 3 1/2 years ago mainly to meet new friends. I was secretary for two years then took a year off from the Committee when I semi retired after 38 years in the NHS. I have 2 sons, eldest getting married in August youngest just left school, so decided right time to return to Committee which I had missed. Looking forward to serving you to help Divas continue to grow and develop further.
Janet Rettner – Divas Day Trip Co-Ordinator
Originally from South London, I moved to Taunton in 2015. I recently joined Taunton Dean Divas after finding out about the local W.I group from a friend. Having attended my first meeting as a guest, I knew I wanted to sign up as a member before the evening had ended! In between paid work and volunteering, I enjoy exploring new places and visiting friends and family here and abroad. As a new member of the Committee I am looking forward to organising social events and days out for the Divas.
